A brief review of Dublin and a selection of Dublin Hotels.
Dublin's pedestrianized streets are alive with street sellers & buskers. At night, the noise levels increase dramatically as the place heaves with revellers. Not surprisingly, it is the area that everyone wants to stay in and there are a good number of hotels.Hotels in Temple Bar tend to be expensive it is extremely difficult to get availability, particularly on Friday & Saturday nights. If you are on a tight budget, the Bridge House may be worth looking at. It is a family run guesthouse on Parliament Street in the middle of Temple Bar. It's clean, comfortable, friendly & not too expensive. Moving up-market, the Paramount Hotel and Parliament Hotels are a few yards away and around the corner on Lord Edward Street. They are three star hotels with good restaurants. Their bars are popular with visitors and locals alike. The Parliament is very busy at weekends so book early. We have negotiated pretty good prices with them, particularly for mid-week stays! Worth a look!
The Temple Bar Hotel , as the name suggests is located right in the middle of Temple Bar and has a popular bar and nightclub attached. Located in the heart of the action, this hotel is ideal for groups travelling to Dublin for a short break or anyone who enjoys a lively atmospehere and great location.
If money is no object or for that particularly special occasion you may consider the Clarence Hotel. Owned by Bono & the Boys in U2, it is the premier luxury hotel in Temple Bar and very popular with visiting celebrities. The atmosphere and service in their Octogan Bar is top class and the restaurant is excellent. I think that the design is too modern & minimalist, but most folks seem to love it. I would expect a personal introduction to the owners but judging from the fact that it is fully booked most of the time, there are obviously a lot of people on higher budgets than me!
Taking into account the prices & the noise levels, it is often worth considering alternative hotels outside Temple Bar but within 10 minutes walk of the area itself. The Ormond Quay Hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from Temple Bar.
Also on the river's quays and at the other end of the luxury scale is the Morrison Hotel. Designed by Douglas Wallace and award-winning couturier John Rocha, the Morrison's unique blend of oriental calm and luxury will turn your holiday into a Zen experience.
Also under 5 minutes walk from Temple Bar is the Trinity Capital Hotel. The management have paid great attention to detail and the style, decor and overall finished producy is excellent. Prices vary depending on the time of week and year, but booking in advance we can usually offer very affordable rates.
An ideal location, no matter what your reason for visiting Dublin. The Bridge House is a combination of two recently renovated 18th Century townhouses, stylishly refurbished, and in the heart of Temple Bar.
One of the most luxurious and visually stunning hotels in Europe stands the Morrison Hotel. Designed by Douglas Wallace and fashion guru, John Rocha, the hotel itself is riddled with real works of art, and the rooms demand relaxation. Undoubtably one of Dublin's elite locations.
The Brooks Hotel is a designer boutique hotel which pays great attention to detail and personal service. Located in the heart of Dublin City, the Brooks Hotel is just a short walk to all of Dublin's sights and attractions including Trinity College, Grafton Street, Government buildings and Dublin Castle.
The Eliza Lodge, one of Dublin's newest guest houses, faces Dublin's millennium bridge, and is adjacent to the heart of fashionable Temple Bar with its huge range of bar's, restaurants and clubs. Eliza Lodge offers guests attention to detail and personal service to match.
One of the last family run, friendly hotels in the city centre of Dublin, Kellys Hotel is recommended highly by many leading international tour guides and is Irish Tourist Board approved. Dublin's premier shopping area, Grafton Street, is just a few minutes walk away.
