Celtic TrailsWelcome To Celtic Trails

Celtic Trails is a company set up by the McQuaid brothers to organise quality cycle adventure holidays in the beautiful and remote west of Ireland.

We, through our years touring and racing through this beautiful region know every by-way and ‘dual- cabbageway’ there is to cycle on right throughout this area. The route we have chosen takes in some of the smallest, most remote, most scenic but most importantly, safe roads in the country.

If you have logged on to this page it means you must have some interest in cycling. That’s great. It might mean that you are interested in cycling holidays. Great too. It also just might mean that you are thinking of coming to Ireland on a cycling holiday. Well that’s just fantastic. We will offer you the best value for money you will get for a cycling holiday in Ireland.

photo You will find cheaper holidays than ours but when you add everything up and take into account all the hidden extras that you will end up paying throughout the cheaper holiday plus the difference in the standard of the accommodation you will be staying in for the week, ours works out at much better value.

You will find more expensive holidays than ours but if you compare what we offer (total backup service and 100% commitment to ensuring you are well looked after, and that’s a promise) and if you compare the accommodation with that more expensive holiday and ours we guarantee ours is just as good. The accommodation we have chosen to stay in is very high standard, offers great food and there is a major emphasis on hospitality and relaxation everywhere we stay.

Our day’s cycling usually begins at around 10.00am when we set off on our adventure through Connemara or Clare to our destination that day. This whole region is steeped in history and we pass many of the ancient ruins that were lived in and fought over by the old Irish clans, the O’Flahertys, the O’Briens, the Lynchs to name but a few. We will stop for lunch in one of the tiny villages along the route and then make our way to our resting point for the night. You will meet nothing but warm friendly and helpful staff in each of the hotels we stay. You may also look forward to dinners that are just perfect. Then should you fancy a pint of Guinness in one of the local watering holes and maybe a bit of traditional Irish music you’re never too far away.

When we promise to take you on a holiday that you will remember for a long time, when we promise that we will do our best to ensure that you have a relaxing, enjoyable and culturally interesting holiday we mean it.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you in ’98.
